Since May 2021, I've been focused on building an aesthetic physique. I started around 110 lbs and have progressed to 155 lbs as of January 2023. Since I started lifting and bulking, I've tried many different strategies - some work, some don't. Although I have a good routine and bulking plan now, I'm constantly learning and improving my workouts, diet, and supplement stack.
One thing that led me to bodybuilding was my desire to increase my testosterone levels. I went down the testosterone rabbit hole in April 2021 (declining testosterone levels in men) and started lifting in part to increase my testosterone levels. After a month of bodyweight exercises, I became slightly addicted to the dopamine and adrenaline rush I got from exercise, as well as the changes to my physique. That was when I decided to get a gym membership and start lifting weights. I didn't know much about lifting programs or bulking at first; however, I spent a lot of time outside of the gym learning about different exercises and bodybuilding strategies.
My lifting program for the past year and a half has been push-pull-legs. I've changed the actual exercises quite a bit since I started, but the program is still the same. In order to gain weight, you have to keep yourself in a caloric surplus. This is something that I struggled with a lot in the beginning and still struggle with to this day. My main strategy there is to drink between half a gallon and a full gallon of milk every day. GOMAD (gallon of milk a day) is one of the oldest bulking strategies. It's effective, but it comes with some side effects and risks, which I discuss more on my supplements and nutrition page.
